Top Holiday Gift Ideas: Gourmet Coffee Maker

It’s upon us! The shopping season and the short road ahead to the holidays. I actually started to plan my shopping earlier this year, taking time to study and whenever possible, try out a number of products in hopes of finding the perfect gifts for friends, family and maybe even me.

I recently took on house-sitting duties for a friend of mine, after one of her family members fell ill states away. Actually, the true calling was a need for a trusted soul to care for her pet. However, the excursion allowed me to test out a few of her kitchen accessories. Among them, she seemed most proud of a new gourmet coffee maker and the variety of gourmet flavors she had on-hand.

For the most part, I am not a big coffee-drinker, or shall I say it only plays an occasional role in my daily life. I received a briefing on the kitchen accessories, including the "must try" gourmet coffee maker before her departure. I was polite, listened, nodded and agreed to try them out. Of course, in the back of my mind, doubting that I would focus much attention on them. Besides, I thought, there is a Starbucks on the corner, which is where I give-in on those rare coffee occasions.

One evening, I believe it was the second night, I found myself working on one of my latest writing projects. This is when my curiosity kicked-in. I must admit, Mocha Nut Fudge, Caramel Vanilla Crème,

Wild Mountain Blueberry, Chocolate Raspberry Truffle, Belgian Chocolate and Crème Brulee began to weigh heavy on my mind.

I made the short walk to the kitchen to investigate further. After all, I thought, it probably would be impolite to allow my friend’s enthusiasm about the gourmet coffee maker to go to waste, right? And besides, a little chocolate never hurts anyone either, right? Best of all, the entire brewing process, so I was told, would only take about a minute, the same amount of time it takes to get a glass of water. I think the longest part, for me, was the time spent in front of the carousel trying to decide on a flavor. I chose the Belgian chocolate.

Today, I am back at my home and just finishing-up a single-serve cup of coffee. It was brewed in my new Keurig B60 Special Edition Gourmet Single-Cup Home Brewing System. And just what flavor you might ask? Well, cappuccino this time. In the morning, I may try the hot chocolate or flavored hot tea.
